<https://streamyard.com/blog/live-streaming-tutorials/how-to-embed-youtube-live-chat-on-your-website>

**Step 1:** Be sure you've scheduled your live stream broadcast. It is important to note that your live stream should either be public or unlisted in order to embed live chat. Use an unlisted live stream to test this feature.

**Step 2:** Visit the scheduled live stream video on YouTube and click on share to copy the video ID.

<figure><img src="/files/IdbsQGEyZSEoC9GWqaI7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Here the video ID is:** *7UCOwu5wwKQ*

**Step 3:** Get your domain name. For instance, if you would like to embed live chat on xyz.com, then "xyz.com" is your domain name.

**Step 4:** Take the **video ID** from step 2 and **domain name** from step 3 and replace in the following code:

Copy

```
<iframe width="350px" height="500px" src="https://www.youtube.com/live_chat?v=yourvideoid&amp;embed_domain=yourdomainnamegoeshere.com" ></iframe>
```

In our example, the final code would look like this:

Copy

```
<iframe width="350px" height="500px" src="https://www.youtube.com/live_chat?v=7UCOwu5wwKQ&amp;embed_domain=stephensimon.xyz" ></iframe>
```

Now that you have the embed code, it’s time to add it to your website.

![](/files/XgwgXOpc6LwdwTV4VxbH)

#### **Note**:

The green bar on top of the screen asks users to upgrade their account to start a stream. Live streaming is not possible on Vimeo without upgrading to a paid subscription. Otherwise, you can only demo a stream for up to 10 minutes only. If you want to go live on Vimeo, make sure you upgrade your subscription to a paid one by clicking Upgrade.

#### **Vimeo + Starstream Login Protection = 100% Protection** <a href="#nv5c4mb6lgdn" id="nv5c4mb6lgdn"></a>

If you want total protection for your live event, [Vimeo + Starstream Login Protection](/hosted-online-events-with-extra-protection/starstream-+-vimeo-100-login-protection) is the most secure option.

Live streaming with Vimeo requires a paid account. However, Vimeo gives you more control over your event than free platforms like Youtube. For example, Vimeo allows you to set up domain restrictions to make it impossible to watch the live stream without paid access, which alongside Starstream, can help you secure your event access so that no one can enter it without a ticket. If you're interested in this most secure setup, checkout this [article](/hosted-online-events-with-extra-protection/starstream-+-vimeo-100-login-protection).

# Notification Timeline

When any customer buys a ticket to an online event, a series of automated notifications (emails and SMSs) are triggered. Here are the types of notifications sent to users who buy tickets for online events:

1. **Register confirmation**: Right after a ticket is purchased, a confirmation is sent out immediately via both email and SMS. This message confirms the purchase and provides details about the event. It also includes a convenient link to add the event to various calendars (Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo!).
2. **Ticket**: The actual ticket, which contains a secret link for event access (exclusive to ticket holders), is sent via email and SMS 24 hours before the event begins.
3. **Reminder notification**: A reminder is sent just before the event starts, ensuring that as many people as possible remember to attend. This aims to boost attendance. If necessary, this reminder can be turned off.

## **Reviewing this information** <a href="#k4cryf50stz0" id="k4cryf50stz0"></a>

You can always find this timeline by clicking on any event from the main Starstream dashboard, scrolling down the Event tab:<br>

# Sending and customizing event replay for online event

Sending your online event replay to customers via email and SMS, and customizing both messages.

Starstream allows you to send a replay to all attendees after the event is over. The replay can be sent via email and SMS. The replay link is by default the same link to the live stream, as most platforms will offer the replay of the stream on the same link, but if you want to upload the replay yourself, or to another platform or using a platform that doesn’t offer the replay on the same link, you can freely change the link before sending the event replay email and SMS.

Those are some of the famous platforms that offer a livestream replay on the same link:

* Youtube
* Vimeo

You can customize replay email and SMS before the event date is past, but you can’t send a replay until the event time is in the past.

# Overview - Event hosted on Starstream

When doing an online event, you can choose to host the event on Starstream.

Hosting the event on Starstream enables extra security features. Those extra security features reduce the risk of link cross sharing, but require a bit more complex setup.&#x20;

An event hosted on Starstream looks like this:

<figure><img src="/files/sc61FHvcl0yLEuTI3EQ0" alt=""><figcaption><p>Event hosted on Starstream</p></figcaption></figure>

## Protection 1: Starstream Login Protection

Event hosted on Starstream include additional security. The first thing is that in order to access the event, each customer must go through a login protection that will require them to enter a magic code.

<figure><img src="/files/IyL2HWICgI2Tvq1M5xhg" alt=""><figcaption><p>Login Protection Page presented to the user when he tries to access the event.</p></figcaption></figure>

Then the user will receive a magic code via email or SMS:

<figure><img src="/files/AONyAZztZC7FhFuK3Ixa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then they can validate their identity as the last step of the login protection:

<figure><img src="/files/dpXSjCINvpLc6MlN6rJg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Now they have access :tada:

<figure><img src="/files/0vrj8kubEP7L56XWbM5B" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Protection 2: Connection Monitoring

An additional protection of hosting your event on Starstream is that each ticket is valid only for one connection. If a user tries to share his ticket with another attendee, he will get kicked out of his session. This ensure that each viewer has bought a ticket. 1 Ticket = 1 Connection.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: This feature checks for connection every 1 minute. Therefore, there could be a 1 minute delay before a user gets kicked out.
{% endhint %}

For example, if a user wants to share his ticket with his friend that has not paid for the ticket, he will get kicked out and he must buy a ticket.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/nxqozQ2AYK9eHmoG0Cv4" alt=""><figcaption><p>User getting kicked out for sharing his ticket.</p></figcaption></figure>

## Other platform

You can follow a similar procedure for other platform. Platforms often have a "embed code" sharable snippet that you can paste into Starstream. If you need additional help, you can reach our support here:

<support@starstream.app>

## Platform without embed code (Zoom, Google Meet, ...)

Some platform do not have sharable embed code, for example Zoom and Google Meet. You might want to host your event on these platform, but still benefit from Starstream login protection that comes with hosted events. In that case you can leave the "embed video code" section empty and make sure the "event link" is set to your secret link, and a button to display the event will be displayed instead like this:

<figure><img src="/files/AQK20FinhIBPkSUAo4yh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/eONgCZCSgxCpRoUb7ZQv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Starstream + Vimeo: 100% Login Protection

To stop all form of video sharing, you can use Vimeo Live Stream **Viewing privacy** to restrict your live stream to only be playable on your domain. Even someone stealing the Vimeo link won’t be able to play it on the Vimeo website. Starstream + Vimeo provides maximum security.

<figure><img src="/files/G6iKoVfQcoORFMqQuwJH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

More details about Vimeo Viewing Privacy settings: <https://help.vimeo.com/hc/en-us/articles/12426199699985-Overview-of-video-privacy-settings>

### Starstream + Vimeo Demo: Trying to steal the vimeo link <a href="#block-cae07f3d3ec245788d4afe5dc82ff4ea" id="block-cae07f3d3ec245788d4afe5dc82ff4ea"></a>

Here’s a demo of someone trying to steal the Vimeo link and being blocked:

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/ad003c3569b94613a55cdf533d2d614f?sid=72e569cd-5451-4cfd-9102-088c2d95b835>" %}

As you can see the attacker is not able to steal the Vimeo link, he’s only redirected to an image and can’t do anything about it.

If the attacker manages to steal the link, he gets a “unauthorized” page:

<figure><img src="/files/LkvLAQl3P670LBNMoj29" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Therefore the participants accessing your live stream event must pay for a ticket with Starstream to access the event.

## Vimeo Price <a href="#block-cebde2f4a3c44d39b6b979583657cdec" id="block-cebde2f4a3c44d39b6b979583657cdec"></a>

Vimeo Live Stream feature is a paid service. You need the advanced plan to get the Live Stream feature. It’s about 65$/month. However, Vimeo offers a **7 day free trial**.

<figure><img src="/files/KipJERFK4MH4PTZjZgR0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Vimeo cost money to host live events, however you get 100% security in return. Starstream makes sure that your attendees have paid the ticket to access the live stream and Vimeo makes sure that the live stream can only be seen on your live stream page.

If Vimeo is too expensive, you can use Youtube instead. Youtube is totally free, but does not offer the domain restriction for live stream. Youtube does offer domain restriction for video. See our help article here:

[Create a live stream event on Youtube](/starstream-online-events/creating-event-link)

## Demo: How to setup Vimeo <a href="#block-896acf40a74c40eab8d4fd64d24e0ed9" id="block-896acf40a74c40eab8d4fd64d24e0ed9"></a>

If you're not familiar with HTML, a tool like [ChatGPT](https://openai.com/chatgpt) can write HTML for you. Here's some prompts you can use to generate HTML:

<pre data-overflow="wrap"><code><strong>Convert this event description into a concise HTML snippet using divs for structure. Breakdown themes into sections each with appropriate headings and paragraphs. Avoid using the head element or external stylesheets, ensuring the snippet is self-contained for easy integration. # Accessing a In-Person Event

The entire journey of customers from visiting the event page to buy it to accessing the in-person event.

This article is meant to help you understand how customers engage with your in-person events, from the moment they purchase the ticket to the moment they access the event. This is what happens:

1. The customer visits your Shopify store and ends up on the product page. They add the product to their cart and proceed to checkout.

![](/files/nGfQvooBJ0rKmFa1RXVC)

2. In the checkout page, they add their email or phone number, fill their bank card details and pay for the product.

![](/files/xzMUYdEcoTr0Cr3NosvJ)

3. A message shows payment details and that the payment is successful, and a purchase confirmation email is sent from Shopify.

![](/files/FvryEiOyp1iQMd3EEC8z)

If the event has already started, they can access it via the button on the top right in this order confirmation page.

1. The register confirmation is sent to the customer immediately after purchase via email and SMS. They can add the event to their calendar from the button in the email. It is followed by two reminders sent via email and SMS. The ticket is also immediately sent to customers via email and SMS with the QR Code. For convenience, they also receive notification via email and SMS 24 hours and 1 hour before the event starts. You can learn more about the timing of sent emails and SMSs from the notification timeline article.

To validate the access, you can use the [Starstream QR Scanner](https://servers.starstream.app/scanner/qr_latest), or validate tickets manually. Here what your attendees' QR code looks like:

<figure><img src="/files/7CU62OpLH2TLxwBmqUUN" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Scan synchronization

You can share the [Starstream QR Code Scanner](https://servers.starstream.app/scanner/qr_latest) to as many devices as you like (preferably smartphones) and scans will synchronize in the cloud to prevent QR code re-use accross entry points.

For example, for an event with three entry points, you might have one staff member at each entry, each equipped with a phone for scanning. When a guest's QR code is scanned, the information is immediately synchronized with the cloud. This real-time syncing ensures that the same QR code cannot be used again at any of the other entry points. This system effectively prevents fraud by blocking multiple entries with the same code.

<figure><img src="/files/51nXarKP88qnOmZIDgpd" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Scan Statistics

You can view detailed statistics about your scans from the Statistics tab under your event.

# Avoid Spam Filters

Tips to avoid getting your emails flagged as spam.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Most of the spam problems can be solved by changing the sender address to "<tickets@starstream.app>". See this video:
{% endhint %}

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/520e9dcb0b9247d88a5fc93b56c00218?sid=a7d0aa48-7773-4f29-b52b-502d3d28d851>" %}

Your emails -including the ones you send with Starstream- can get flagged as spam by email services like Gmail and Outlook. This will mean that they won’t make it to the customer’s inbox, and they won’t see your emails.

## Email Content

Email services usually have different criteria to determine which emails are spam, and this criteria is not published by companies behind these services, so they can only be guessed and tried. Here are some tips to avoid your emails being flagged as spam when editing your email template in Starstream editor:

<figure><img src="/files/Y1CI7vpgUVuqdB1ImXLj" alt=""><figcaption><p>Starstream Email editor can be accessed in "Event" -> "Customize Ticket Tab"</p></figcaption></figure>

### **Avoid words associated with spam email** <a href="#b1ckyt9qweyh" id="b1ckyt9qweyh"></a>

Mailboxes use spam filters that work in different ways. One of the ways they filter emails is by detecting specific words that are usually associated with spam emails. Those are some examples:

* Sales Language: Terms like "Buy now", "Free", "Guaranteed", or "Special promotion" can trigger spam filters.
* Exaggerated Claims: Phrases like "Once in a lifetime opportunity" or "You have been selected" are typical of spam emails.
* Financial Content: Words like "Income", "Investment", "Million dollars", and "Credit" can be red flags.
* Urgency or Pressure: Phrases like "Urgent action required", "Immediate response needed", or "Don’t miss out" can be problematic.

### Color Usage <a href="#block-580637739bff47a6963430926a2d55f2" id="block-580637739bff47a6963430926a2d55f2"></a>

* Avoid Overuse of Bright or Neon Colors: These are often associated with spammy content. In particular, bright red should be avoided.
* Text colors: Use standard text colors (black or dark gray) for the majority of your email text.

### **Don’t overuse hyperlinks** <a href="#lei6nxlc1azg" id="lei6nxlc1azg"></a>

Spam emails usually contain an excessive number of hyperlinks. You should avoid including more than a few links in your email.

### **Consider the design style of spam emails** <a href="#za43lmqcrx1" id="za43lmqcrx1"></a>

The email editor allows you to design your email freely. However, you should avoid some design aspect that can flag your email as spam. One of these aspects is flashy colors in the design. These colors can include red and green.

For text, avoid adding text in green, red or white. It is recommended that you use black or gray for your emails.

Broken HTML code can also lead to getting your email spammed. Make sure that you edit or add html codes that work in Startsream’s email editor.

### **Send a test before bulk sending to customers** <a href="#w9mdkmkccvju" id="w9mdkmkccvju"></a>

While using the email editor, you can send a test email to any of your personal emails to see if it gets spammed or not. Use this feature before sending bulk emails to customers or before the time specific emails like ticket emails come and the emails are automatically sent. You can begin editing and testing all of your emails in Starstream right away after creating the event.

## Sender Email

Another very important factor is the sender email. You can customize the sender email in “Settings” → "Sender Settings" -> "Edit sender email for Starstream tickets” to change the sender email.

### **Use a corporate email, avoid Gmail** <a href="#ux3sf73ocb05" id="ux3sf73ocb05"></a>

If you want to avoid your emails being spammed, don’t use a Gmail address as a sender email. It is better that you use your company email, and if not available, AOL and Outlook emails get spammed the least.

<figure><img src="/files/KX02FdKQFg0KaRDARchs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/520e9dcb0b9247d88a5fc93b56c00218?sid=a7d0aa48-7773-4f29-b52b-502d3d28d851>" %}

Try changing the sender email to:

* A corporate email (not a gmail or hotmail), those are generally better to avoid spam
* `tickets@starstream.app` : If you’re still having problem with a corporate email (or don’t have a corporate email) you can try using **<tickets@starstream.app>**. Sometime it fixes the problem when it’s caused by sending domain mismatch.

As a backup, Starstream always provides participants with a button to access the event (or get the QR Code) in the order page:<br>

<figure><img src="/files/CTLAErnuG6AIgGxytHA4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The participant will always be able to access the event this way event if the ticket email ended up in their spam.

For any issue or additional question, contact **<support@starstream.app>**.

Go to Shopify Admin -> Settings -> Shipping and delivery

<figure><img src="https://images.spr.so/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/j42No7y-dcokJuNgXeA0ig/3e2c1903-d03a-4346-96ed-24ab6b13abf5/file-Chokcnr9zx/w=1500,quality=80,fit=scale-down" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Create a new profile in custom shipping rates

Add all the products that you want to exclude the ticket price from

#### **Create a new shipping zone** <a href="#block-c6101669666344f2aa83fe16b99c2aa5" id="block-c6101669666344f2aa83fe16b99c2aa5"></a>

Then create a new shipping zone with all the country in it. Call it "All World"

#### **Add a rate** <a href="#block-197a40a6e68f461cb0c1d72d648a4a7c" id="block-197a40a6e68f461cb0c1d72d648a4a7c"></a>

<figure><img src="https://images.spr.so/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/j42No7y-dcokJuNgXeA0ig/969610d5-3db2-42c3-a7f1-0852997b5dc0/file-9sB4d2WqLX/w=1500,quality=80,fit=scale-down" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://images.spr.so/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/j42No7y-dcokJuNgXeA0ig/81d09b1f-0d2d-4c90-b430-934ed4649282/file-hg2gNJ2n89/w=1500,quality=80,fit=scale-down" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Now add a rate.

<figure><img src="https://images.spr.so/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/j42No7y-dcokJuNgXeA0ig/d4d4fb82-c87c-4a49-a58d-18728c1a0e3c/file-ZtIWGQyzqs/w=1500,quality=80,fit=scale-down" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Call the rate "Ticket Fee" (this is what your customers will see) and enter $0.99.

> Warning for store in other currencies than USD: Starstream charges you 0.99$ in USD. If your store uses another currency, make sure to increase or lower this fee so it's equivalent to $0.99 USD. You might need to update the price when the exchange rate between your shop's currency and the USD changes a lot.

<figure><img src="https://images.spr.so/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/j42No7y-dcokJuNgXeA0ig/84ff099d-7be9-410f-b1cd-cef638065f5d/file-PUCNFFlHJn/w=1500,quality=80,fit=scale-down" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Click done, then click save.

## **4. You're done!** <a href="#block-74ac61713f0340cf9bf7e0fb2e3748ba" id="block-74ac61713f0340cf9bf7e0fb2e3748ba"></a>

Now if you go into your shop and buy the item you see that the "Ticket Fee" is excluded from the the ticket price.

# Overview

Our Legacy login protection module was leveraging Shopify blogs instead of Starstream hosted pages. Here's the collection of pages from our legacy documentation for referrence purpose only.

# Starstream Login Protection (Legacy)

With Starstream Login Protection, Starstream will make sure that the ticket is used to watch exactly one stream. If somebody tries to open the live stream on many different windows, Starstream will kickout the older window and prioritize the newer window. This makes sure that your attendees must buy 1 ticket per participant. This increases your sales.

## **How login protection works** <a href="#e4auptuhuhwh" id="e4auptuhuhwh"></a>

When login protection is enabled, the Start Watching button in the ticket email takes users to a protected page, instead of the live stream video directly. Here is what happens in detail:<br>

1. The ticket is sent to the attendant email and they click on Start Watching.

![](/files/xDm5F5rjG4PXADXONfb8)

2. A window is shown, asking the user to enter the ticket number.

![](/files/ZJMq2BsjWEt0NxopOW4O)

3. After submitting the ticket number and clicking submit, the user is asked to enter the Magic Code, an OTP sent to their email.

![](/files/0DjLbmblc2MYpKlQCbZc)

4. The Magic Code email looks like this.

![](/files/MwengEL0qFpF6oS3C7lz)

5. When they enter the code and click Access Event, the page opens with the stream link embedded in it.

![](/files/n1Wu9xyHvDxabgfWWuZ6)

## **How to enable login protection** <a href="#fx14r4entkav" id="fx14r4entkav"></a>

This feature is enabled by following two main steps, **creating a blog with an embedded stream** and **enabling the login protection with the blog URL in the Starstream dashboard.**

To create the blog, follow these steps:

1. In your Shopify dashboard, go to **Blog posts** from the main navigation sidebar to the left.

![](/files/rwnR5vRiDZWf7wfHfIVy)

2. Click on the **Create blog post** button.

![](/files/uUCqwgdXxY1NmFeJRLts)

3. Add a title for the page, which will be visible to customers.

![](/files/UCGZQt3xuKAGxbiJD1P4)

4. In the content field, you need to embed your video. You need first to get the embed link for the live stream video. The method can vary by platform, but it is usually by sharing the video and choosing the embed option.

![](/files/53tqgUJSlDJttpeMW3pb)

5. For youtube, click on **Share**. The first choice to the left is **Embed**. Click on it.

![](/files/QG0ZZpqbMzqy4eqvshn6)

6. The embed link is shown, copy it, then return to Shopify.

![](/files/7bJc40t5TqRrNrshCkEb)

7. Click on the video icon on top of the content section.

![](/files/rkpVOURIPeMzev9i9rVJ)

8. Paste the embed link and click **Insert video**.

![](/files/HlIlLFfAhwj1HxHU1UU7)

9. The embedded stream will be shown in the content field.

![](/files/BmnA4Z6b3nzg67TznrcI)

10. Scroll down the page and click Save.

![](/files/m4yXYNfwr0pW83W3VjHj)

11. Click View to view the published blog and check if it works as intended.

![](/files/koZQmEkz5HPvkYzvJzAK)

12. The blog should look like this. Go back to the dashboard and edit it at any time if you need to.

![](/files/xGLcMleLGUa2iKSYBT45)

After creating the blog, you can enable login protection in your Starstream dashboard.

To enable login protection, follow these steps:

1. In your main Starstream dashboard, make sure you are in the Events tab.

![](/files/hoK9mdRQ3haRMq0n5nQ6)

2. Scroll down and click on the event you want to protect. Make sure it is an online event, as this feature is available only for only events.

![](/files/HQRy4f6J2eY4hMGiTNkD)

3. Make sure you are in the Event tab.

![](/files/E2lp14itdb3wOqwYtw1B)

4. Scroll down to the mode section, click on **Standard** and make it **Strict**.

![](/files/rKgAq5fFG9VwZ4lUhoRO)

5. The section will look like this.

![](/files/Ek9MCDVK3fbeHj5f6BIy)

6. Insert the link to the blog you have created. You can view it, and copy the URL from your browser’s URL bar.

![](/files/VgP6Aioh49o8NhfsC7SL)

7. The URL field accepts Shopify blog links only. Click **Save** when you finish.

![](/files/ZDxbOa6rc8pg1cFhs3iW)

8. After saving, the section will look like this.

![](/files/dlO3cKjBLQjJCH4OJDZU)

You have now protected the event and customers will require a ticket number and an OTP to access the livestream link.
